BBQ Vegan Meatball PizzaPrint This
The Dough (this makes two pizza’s so two trays will be needed)
300g strong bread flour
200g semolina flour
2 teaspoons fast action yeast
2 tablespoons olive oil
2 tablespoons salt
2 teaspoons brown sugar or brown coconut sugar
300ml tepid water
Vegan cheese (two types depending on preference)grated
4-6 vegan sausages
1/2 a jar of drained black olives
1 red onion
BBQ sauce to drizzle
1/2 a jar of passata
2 pinches of Italian herbs
Fresh basil and rocket to garnish
In a large bowl, mix together dry ingredients.
Toss in the oil to the water and mix into the dry ingredients until just combined.
Lightly dust your clean worktop with semolina flour (move your beer to one side) and knead the dough for 6 minutes, it should be smooth, elastic and bounces back when you touch it (like a peachy bum).
Oil a large bowl, place the dough inside and cover with cling film and set to one side to prove (45 mins), in a warm kitchen I find works best.
In the meantime cook the sausages in a pan, let them cool slightly then cut into chunks and roll into balls.
Chop red onion and peppers.
Mix passata with Italian herbs in a bowl.
Once the dough has doubled in size cut in two and dust your worktop ,roll out the dough to 1/2 cm thick with a rolling pin .
Alternatively you can use your hands like a proper Italian bad ass.
Pre-heat oven to 428° F or 220° C, whichever way you prefer.
Once at the correct thickness and size of your trays, oil the pizza trays, put the dough in and shape up the edges.
Spoon on the tomato base and spread evenly, then add your toppings (make sure everyone gets enough sausage balls or you will likely get punched in the face by whoever got stiffed).
Put in the oven until nice and brown (10 mins).
Take out and drizzle with BBQ sauce and top with rocket and fresh basil leaves and tuck in!
