There are many common misconceptions about Veganism in general, and what a Vegan is. Perhaps the most common myth is that Vegans are ‘weak,’ or ‘scrawny.’ We’re here today to blow the roof off that idea, proving once again that Vegans can be as manly or butch as any meat eating human can. What’s the difference between protein in meat and protein in vegetables? The answer is pretty much nothing.
Veganism is simply a lifestyle choice, whether for health reasons or environmental concerns, or for your stance against animal cruelty. You can still remain Alpha as f*ck while being Vegan, and here are five celebrities who prove that fact:
Everybody knows the name Mike Tyson, as he was once the scariest heavyweight boxer on the planet. Winning the heavyweight title at the record-breaking age of 20, Tyson literally terrorised the heavyweights of the 1980’s and 1990’s. Although he once took a bite out of Evander Holyfield’s ear, it appears Tyson is just not about being carnivorous anymore.
Per his interview with ABC News:
“I was real carnivorous [sic] when I was training for fights – a lot of meat, cheese, bread. I devoured everything besides pork. I used to eat a lot. As I got older I didn’t like the way I was feeling. I had a lot of arthritis, joint problems and I was morbidly obese[sic]. My wife who was not my wife at the time, she changes her diet all the time. I says, ‘what is this you’re doing?’ And she says, ‘I’m eating vegan for a month or two weeks.’ Well, I said that’s what I’m going to do too, I want to do that. Cause I was just eating things without even figuring out what they are. And that’s how I’ve been for four and a half years.
I found out the greatest gladiators, the greatest ones in Roman times, they were all vegan. That’s fighting to the death! The best gladiators, I didn’t say all of them, when they looked at their bone marrow and did the research, they found that they were vegans. No meat particles in them”
UFC lightweight star Nate Diaz has been fighting at the elite level for over 10 years now. Perhaps most well known for his duo of fights against Conor McGregor, Diaz sensationally submitted the Irishman at UFC 196 in March 2016. Known for his insane levels of both cardio and manliness, Diaz is a smash hit with his hardcore MMA following.
One thing a lot of fight fans don’t know is that both Nate and his older brother/fighter Nick Diaz are vegans.
“I like to promote the vegan industry,” Nate enthuses. “I hear a lot of criticism from people saying you need meat to be strong and for recovery, and it’s a bunch of bullshit, because I train harder than everybody. It’s so easy to argue with these people. I’m like, ‘Dude, have you done a tenth of what I’ve done?’”
“If anything, meat’s gonna slow you down”, Diaz told Men’s Journal.
The Terminator, the manly governor of California, the ultimate action star and the former king of bodybuilding. These accolades are not lightly bestowed by any means, but Arnie is yet another alpha beast who has said ‘Hasta La Vista’ to the meat lifestyle.
“If they tell you to eat more meat to be strong—don’t buy it. Meat and dairy are not good for your body, and they are not good for the environment.”
‘The Hayemaker,’ former world heavyweight boxing champion, once beat a Russian man who is the tallest champion in the division’s history. It doesn’t get much more alpha than that, and the British pugilist is also renowned for having incredible speed and endurance for his 100+ Kilogram frame.
Yep, you guessed it, Haye is VEGAN!
“I think,” says David Haye, “that I’m now fitter than I’ve ever been. I punch harder than ever. I’m more determined. I’m faster…”
“A lot of the meat that people eat has been genetically modified, or if it hasn’t then the food the animal’s been fed has been. That’s tough for a human being to process, so cutting it out made me feel immediately better and stronger than ever. Not only my weight, either – I used to get eczema but don’t any more; used to get dandruff, now I don’t. Everyone should try it for one or two days a week.”
Barny Du Plessis
You don’t get ripped to f*ck and hard-bodied without being dedicated, strict on diet, strong and ALPHA! BDP, a well-known bodybuilder and Mr. Universe winner, is all those things rolled into one, as well as a VEGAN!
